I PARCHI LETTERARI® IN CALABRIA “JOURNEYS TO THE FUTURE OF MEMORY” - I PARCHI LETTERARI IN THE LOCRIDE AREA

Today, the territory of Locride includes a vast area that runs along the coast of the Ionian Sea for kilometres and extends towards the hinterland, crossing gorges, torrents and landscapes of Mediterranean nature, up to the Aspromonte where nature still remains largely uncontaminated. Locride offers important some important elements, a rich historical and cultural legacy, still preserving the original architecture from the past in its ancient towns with churches and monasteries, castles and noble homes, and excavated archaeological sites that are rich with prehistoric finds. The historic economic marginalisation of the towns of Locride has, shall we say, allowed tradition, customs and artisan and culinary products to be preserved, making this area a unique land to be discovered and appreciated.

But a number of other places in the area of Locride are also deserving of inclusion in the activities of I Parchi Letterari®: from Monasterace to Rocella Jonica, Riace, Stignano, Caulonia, Siderno to the towns of the Torbido Valley, to the area of the Buonamico Valley, from the area of Heracleum up to Brancleone, to the unique area known as Grecanica.
In time, I Parchi Letterari® and their initiatives will also be able to involve even less well known places that nevertheless are just as enjoyable and most importantly, deserving of value.
