I PARCHI LETTERARI "IN THE DIMENSION OF THE JOURNEY"
- THE PLACES: REALMONTE
On
a plateau near the sea and the very suggestive
Turkish Steps, mentioned earlier, and one
of the most beautiful coastlines of Sicily,
which includes the white beaches of Capo
Rossello. Here, in the surrounding area, we find
the Roman Villa of Durrueli, which dates back to
the 1st Century A.D.. |

And now we have almost reached Agrigento, where we find…
Chaos, and with it one of the most celebrated bards of
Agrigento and the profound events of the human soul: the
recipient of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Luigi
Pirandello... |

Luigi
Pirandello
"Therefore, I am the son of Chaos; and
not in an allegorical sense, but in reality,
because I was born in one of our
countrysides, which is found near a thick
forest, known in dialect as Cāvusu to the
inhabitants of Girgenti... the dialect
corruption of the true and ancient Greek
word Xaos..."
... Beyond the forest, along the long ditch,
the famous surviving Temples rose up, which
appeared to be placed there on purpose, at a
distance, to extend the magnificent view of
the villa... (from "The Old and the Young”)
In the streets,
in the town squares, towards
nightfall,
I hear, like the buzz of a beehive,
the low psalm-saying of good souls:
They are my descendants, with my
immortal book
under their arms, which, in the
evening, go
to the city at rest, reciting
my poems under the bright moonlight...”
(from Mal Giocondo)
